A cast of an authentic Clovis point from Linn County, Iowa. Dating to the Paleoindian Period around 12 to 13,000 years ago, the culture using this point was spread all throughout North America. Large Clovis points like this one often show usewear along the edges indicating that they were used as knives as well. At 108mm long and 34mm wide, it is a large and well flaked example of the classic type. The original was made in Hixton Quartzite, and it shows signs of resharpening after some use. (COA Perino 2001) Ex. Scott Collection. cast copyright Occpaleo 2018.
