For a limited time, we have a small supply of LITHIC CASTS left over from a Paleoddysey Conference in 2013 in Santa Fe, NM. Several extra casts were made in early in a solid color grey, to better show the flake scars and test base colors for the process. These do not show the intricate colors of the original, but are still great for reference study of the artifact, and will be sold here at a discount on the Clearance collection. The Paleoindian Archaeology conference was focused on Clovis/Pre-Clovis, and the University at Texas A&M was graciouis enough to allow this cache biface from the Hogeye Site, Tx to be molded and cast to share at the conference for reference study. The site is located in the Balcones Escarpment of the Gulf Coastal Plain of Central Texas, and contains 52 late stage bifaces. It is a wonderful snapshot of Clovis technology in knapping, and a cultural window as well, as it has a context larger than an isolated find. This particular biface was one of the finest in the collection, and is an example of a final preform, almost complete. The first picture shows the solid color cast(color of grey Texas flint), and last two pics are of the original artifact. The point measures 6 and 5/8th inches(170mm) and 1 and 3/4th inches wide.
