This is a rough cut of pure copper, that was prepared for testing replicas of the axe found in the famous Iceman/Otzi archaeological find in the Alps, dating around 5,200 years ago. Several of these blanks were rough cut for us years ago, to be slightly larger than dimensions of the original, so that they could be ground or hammered to shape before hafting on handles made here. Research showed original artifact copper bit to be at 9.4cm and this raw blank is at 10cm. Width taper and thickness matches original now, and this bit would only need contouring and sharpening to match original Ice Man artifact.
